This Buddhist Little Tale is the Most Powerful One I Have Ever Read
The ripples of the bowl: a life lesson in giving without waiting.
Sometimes you give and keep giving without getting anything in return.
It affects you even if you don’t expect anything from the beginning.
The ingratitude of others leaves a bitter aftertaste, a resentment difficult to tear from your heart.
In 2018, I felt this way. That’s why I wrote a few words that I hung on the wall so I wouldn’t forget them:
IMPORTANT
When they reproach you for all that, according to them, you have not done for someone, remember all that you HAVE DONE. But, above all, keep in mind that you were not obliged to do it. Don’t forget that, because there will be those who will try to make you feel guilty in order to manipulate you and turn your generosity into an obligation.
Having that reminder in sight saved me a lot of heartache. However, there came a time when I asked myself: what’s the point of giving so much if I get nothing in return?

As luck would have it, a lecture from UC Berkeley popped up in my YouTube feed.
