What the Heck are Stralfs?

There are a few posts here at Medium, all within this publication probably, where Stralfs are mentioned. Stralfs is from an acronym referring to a phenomenon which could be described as counter-enjoyment/pro-misery.

I actually made it up as a different way to see our apparently persistent social and political plights and related profiteering. That sounds kind of negative. It’s actually pretty fun, I think. And it all seems like a pretty useful metaphor.

Actually, it wasn’t me but my imaginary friend that made it up. I will admit to making up my imaginary friend.

But some would say fiction is often an expressed compilation of totally real things at varying degrees of metaphor. So maybe my friend Stu isn’t too off base in telling a long story about aliens from Planet Stralf, from the point of view of Rhettie and Wally, and their attempt to raise awareness in just the right way.

Those aliens want to slowly and subtly convince us to get on the spaceships they’ve brought and to trade planets (theirs is actually pretty crappy but they hide that fact).

They’ve been here for around 200 years, mostly in the Midwest near the Great Lakes.

They haven’t been discovered because they’re only about the size of potatoes and can do camouflage very well. But Rhettie noticed them in a dream — according to Stu.

More coming regularly, so that the secret doesn’t die with me.

7th Pie Theory from Bug Stu and Allie Space-Owl. There are six pies represented in the American Economic Tray, and we need a 7th. It leads to a way funner way than the fray we have today — per Stu and Allie. And so long Postmodernism. And hopefully, so long Stralfs.
