Tammy swore the next time someone asked her how she was doing she would answer truthfully. Liberated.

The light at the end of the dark tunnel was large and bright and she knew there was nothing standing in her way. No one could screw this up now.

Detective Branson had provided instructions as promised and she had followed them, as promised. Everyone would keep their mouths shut, for a price.

The investigators dressed in black had been paid nicely and would remain on the Copperman payroll as many of them had been for decades. This wasn’t the first Copperman to screw up and it certainly wouldn’t be the last. There were too many of them to not have one idiot in the crowd. The way Loretta Copperman had looked down her thin straight nose at Tammy, she knew they were thinking her kids were high on their list of ones to watch.

Detective Branson would also continue as chief persuader, keeping offenders like Tammy and her offspring from soiling the Copperman name.

As expected there were no news stories other than a few short paragraphs and a fairly current photo of Brett in the back of the A section of the Arizona Republic. The article did not point to suicide or homicide. It did not say anything about a pending investigation, because nothing else would be investigated. It just stated the facts. Brett Copperman, the…
