Spring is soon upon us. In the winter chill there is hope of warmer days. We know it is coming, but cannot see past the snow. Spring will be here before you know it and once again we can go outside without risking freezing an earlobe off. Right now we are hunkering down, but many of us are struggling with being kept inside by both Covid and winter. Its a plot twist we all did not see coming. Here we are regardless of how we ended up here. We are all in this together.

Moving through this tough season I hear people talking about what they learned, what they achieved, or lack thereof, but without measuring our lives in accomplishments we feel even more stuck. We managed to get out of PJ’s today, awesome and yeah for you. We brushed our teeth, TWICE today!! Bonus points. So much of what was normal was taken away from us all. If you accomplished making it though another day, then extra bonus points for you. Life right now is tough, and not all of us are achieving, some of us are just surviving.

We will Spring forward together no matter what we did or did not do. Look over the giant snow piles and see a new season on the horizon. That snow will melt. A thaw is coming. Then we will be able to accomplish something together. We will spring forward with our clocks. We will lose an hour of sleep collectively. We will be grumpy and complain we are all tired. Sometimes it is the little things that allow us to know we are alive and living. I for one will take what I can get.

Covid seems to have hunkered down like winter, but like winter it will move forward as well into a new season. Hopefully we will be ok. We may or may not want the immunization, but we are still all going forward. Sometimes when I do not have to go into work, I can work in PJs from home all day, but I feel stuck without my routine, so I still tend to get up super early. My new wake up time is 5AM. I seem to get a lot more done and have a lot less stress starting my day so early.

Moving forward into this new season of both Covid and spring we can focus on all we have lost or we can be ready for something new. New season for us all. Some warmer weather. The Covid numbers prayfully going down. Us going outside to fly a kite, teach our kids to ride a bike, go back to picnics in the park and just being part of the greater community. Time only knows what is coming, but Spring is a given. Let us focus on cherry blossoms, picnics (even if only in our back yard) and flying kites. We can blow bubbles, skip rope and relive some of the fun of childhood. Whatever way you move forward, remember that accomplishing life is an achievement of its own these days. I am proud of you, of all of us, for making it this far along. Hold on Spring is moving us all forward.
