Jesus Loves Black Girls

Jesus cares about you.

He cares about your sexuality, your hair, the discomfort you feel in majority-white spaces, the way your family members talk about your dark skin, your “chicken legs” or “big thighs.”

Jesus sees you.

God sees the chakras you try to balance, the healing crystals you wear over your broken heart, the bundles of hair you buy to feel beautiful, whole, complete.

Jesus knows you.

He knows about the pain locked away. He knows what that uncle did when you were 6 years old. He knows about the absent father you’ll never admit you miss. He knows when you “lost it,” your innocence, your virginity, your sanity.

Jesus forgives you.

You are not a mistake, even though you’ve made mistakes.

Jesus does not define your beauty by its proximity to whitewashed standards. Jesus does not assign your worth by the things you’ve done or left undone.

Jesus loves you.
