Parallel Desires
Finding love in another universe
The poem "Parallel Desires" delves into the protagonist's journey to discover love and fulfill her deepest desires in her own unique world, where she lives alone with her voice, hoping to one day live out her wildest fantasies.
Away in the void,
I long to be swept off my feet.
Inexplicably smitten,
With someone who lives
In a different universe.
These are merely fantasies.
Stuffed with wild dreams,
Dreams that are overused,
Yet romantic and fulfilling,
Uncontemporary and possibly insane.
Sometimes I wish to travel far away.
Someplace close,
Where no one else exists,
Just the two of us,
With our vivid memories.
I long for true love.
Like Damon and Elena’s,
Duan Jia Xu and Sang Zhi’s
Murat and Hayat’s
Ri Jeong Hyeok and Yoon Seri’s.
I expect no whirlwind romance.
For it is impossible in this
Ever-evolving world,
Full of false promises
And fabricated stories.
Maybe one day I’ll get to
Experience something like this,
That is not only obvious,
But also passionate and adventurous,
For I want a love that consumes me.
