Tick-tock, tick-tock; the wall clock ticks,
a regular-irregular clicking noise in the silence.
Frozen old black and white photo against the wall.

Tick-tock, tick-tock; the wall clock ticks,
the old photo speaks to me, silence a thick fog.
Time shifts very slowly to another time’s clock.

The dusty dirt roads of my past, I can smell.
Digging a big toe into sandy grit as the cafe’s bell
dings. Fish and chips lunch in a newspaper shell.

Friend’s eyes smiling, beckoning to come play.
Swimming in cool water slipping on river clay.
Laughter and fun riding an old lumpy tractor tube.

A rusty, wide-open iron farm gate carcass.
hanging skew in its disintegrating harness.
time stands still, frozen freeze frame still.

Playing tag in the thorny waving grass fields,
our calloused bare feet are a blessing in disguise.
Rabbits hiding under thorn bushes in surprise.
