In The Mood
A Poem

A solitary figure walks,
Huddled, dark, and brave,
A solitary bird takes flight,
A silhouetted wave.
A wetted pier, a barelit sea,
Lampposts in the fog,
A drear and heavy cast of sky,
A damp and fishy smog.
With muffled steps and muted wings,
Shuffling, stark, and gray,
These bits of life move brief and shy,
This hollow, moody day.
