Day 2 as Pokémon trainers, the kids and I went on a night walk while Pokémon hunting. I scoped out the area on my way to work looking for Poké stops and areas which had a bunch of the floating green leaves.

TIP: Areas with lots of floating green leaves have a lot of wild Pokémon.

Luckily we live between 2 parks, so we decided to explore the other park since I saw a lot of floating leaves there on the way to work. This park had two Poké stops and a treasure trove of Pokémon. We caught Pikachu, Sandshrew, Venonat, Meowth, Rattata, Pigeotto, Abra and Vulpix. As we finished our lap around the park, someone put lures over the 2 Poké stops in the park so we sat at the picnic tables to catch everything that popped up.

TIP: You can spin the Poké stop every 5 minutes to collect Poké balls, potions and razz berries, you can get razz berries at level 8.

PRO TIP: When there are 2 Poké stops, pace between the two Poké stops to help your eggs hatch while capturing Pokémon and spinning the Poké stops.

The reason we went out for a night walk was because there are some Pokémon which only spawn at night. Plus the girls wanted to reach level 5 to join a team and battle in the gyms. We each leveled up twice while we were at the park and ended up being out for an hour and a half.

Nintendo and Ninato have done a great job at creating an augmented reality experience that encourages people to be active and social. We wouldn’t normally venture out at night for walks and now we are active as a family.
