Office of Manhattan District Attorney

Take a bow Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg! You deserve it after an undeniable victory! A New York jury, after considering the facts presented by prosecutors and the defense attorneys’ responses, delivered a guilty verdict. The members of the jury were given instructions from a judge who, during the multiple-week trial, managed to maintain civility and order and to ensure that the rights of all parties were upheld fairly. It was a trial that was largely devoid of political theater and intense media upheaval. Former President Trump was convicted on not 1, not 2, but 34 felony counts! Supporters are outraged. Detractors are pleased.

The reality is that from the moment he brought a criminal case against the former president, Alvin Bragg was himself put on trial by many of Trump’s supporters as well as abundant pundits. These were the network political analysts and columnists who arrogantly and derisively dismissed Bragg’s legal case, stating that it was weak, flimsy, and overly complex, and that he was misguided for bringing it forward. It was if Bragg himself was guilty of incompetence. Well, we can now conclude that such political psychobabble was nothing short of nonsense! Some racism, whether intentional or unconscious could very well have been a factor in such assumptions as well.
