Black History Month, The Trump Administration, Reductive Politics and the Vivid Reality of Obscene Hypocrisy!

According to those who were in attendance at the Black History Month reception held at the White House and sponsored by President Trump (Trump-holds black-history-month celebration), the February 20 event contained all of the glitz, opulence and pizazz of previous celebrations. Several notable Black conservatives, among them Tiger Woods, Sage Steele, Kodak Black, Lil Boosie, Rod Wave and unsuccessful political candidate Herschel Walker, were in attendance. Attendees drank wine and champagne and nibbled on various delicacies. Trump made an effort to demonstrate a degree of appreciation to the Black community by praising those individuals he viewed as representative of Black American progress. But the dissonance in the East Room was undeniable.

Although President Trump saluted the contributions of Black Americans at the event, he has spent pretty much every day since his inauguration on January 20 denouncing and prohibiting, if not outright outlawing, federal programs aimed at challenging economic and social inequality in America. Furthermore, he suggested that actions taken by the civil rights movement over the past several decades have victimized White people. Yes, you read that correctly.
