First, It Was “Don’t Say, Gay,” Now It’s “Don’t Teach Black”

Florida’s dictator Governor Ron Desantis has done it again. Not content with his “anti-woke” campaign against the LBGTQ community, making it impossible to address the concerns brought up by those students in Florida schools. DeSantis has previously focused on how issues of race are discussed in the classroom. Now, he has banned an advanced class on Black History, though the advanced European History class is just fine. Florida AP students are also welcome to take classes on Japanese, German, Italian, and Spanish language and culture.

The proposed course is being rolled out to 60 high schools across the country by the US College Board. The Board says the following about the new offering:

“The Advanced Placement (AP) African American studies course is the College Board’s first new class since 2014. It is set to cover more than 400 years of African American history, touching on topics like literature, political science, and geography.”
