Is Anyone Buying Gavin Newsom’s Swing to the Right?
California gov.’s appeal to alt-right; annoys both sides
It’s well known in California and beyond Gov. Gavin Newsom wants to be president of the United States. And now his colleague, former Vice President Kamala Harris, has dropped from the national political scene, he’s one of the many Democratic names challenging for the 2028 nomination.
But he’s going about it in a strange manner.
Cozying up to New Right (i.e. Racists)
Newsom recently started a podcast and some of his early choices of guests have left heads scratching and angered some people on the left. Some of Newsom’s first guests included far-right figures such as Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon.
Kirk is a far-right influencer who founded the notorious Talking Point USA (TPUSA,) a group that’s geared towards twisting young minds into believing in the conservative movement. The group has had several scandals involving members making racist statements. And Talking Point USA helped platform Candice Owens, a professional neo coon. She’s an African-American who makes a living bashing Black people and flirting with ant-Semitism. (This is a continual problem with the far-right.)
