On March 22nd, the Missouri GOP sued to remove a longshot gubernatorial candidate with ties to the Ku Klux Klan from the Republican ballot. A similar situation occurred in Oklahoma when a small conservative community elected an avowed https://www.yahoo.com/news/small-city-oklahoma-elected-white-173455823.html?fr=yhssrp_catchall White Supremacist.

Attorneys for the party have requested a judge to ensure southwestern Missouri man Darrell Leon McClanahan stays out of the GOP primary to replace Republican Gov. Mike Parson, who is barred by term limits from running again. McClanahan, who refers to himself as “pro-white,” was among nearly 300 Republican candidates who officially filed to run for office in the state. Lawyers for the Missouri GOP said party leaders did not realize who McClanahan was when he signed up as a candidate. on Thursday, the Missouri Republican party said:

“Our party upholds respect for all individuals, and we’re dedicated to addressing any challenges to these principles decisively.” In response, McClanahan stated “the Missouri GOP knew exactly who I am” and alleged the state chair “told me when I signed up for Senate, paying my $500 fee … he had vetted me and knew I was a Christian identist and that I should just not say anything bad about the Jews.”…
