My Talk at Fusion Fest 2024
“When History Isn’t History”
My followers know I gave a brief talk on Sunday, December 1, at Fusion Fest in Orlando, about 100 miles from where I live in Palm Coast. I lived in Orlando for around 20 years, so I was on familiar stomping grounds. I think this is the eighth year of Fusion Fest, an event designed to bring together cultures worldwide. At last count, 140 cultures were represented.
I was invited to speak at the Global Exchange. The presenter before me was a duo from India singing and playing a sitar. I was followed by a young lady from Senegal who performed an African dance while talking about the baskets she was selling. The Global Exchange was held in a 30 x 30 tent. There were chairs for about thirty people, and there were about 20 people there during my talk.
My youngest daughter and her twelve-year-old daughter were able to attend. They arrived at the last second, which isn’t the norm for them. They’re usually late everywhere, and she paid $20 for parking after riding around looking for a space to get there on time.
I did what I said I would do when I wrote about public speaking on sensitive subjects. I don’t do a lot of public speaking; I mostly write where it’s easy to go back and edit what doesn’t make sense. I issued the trigger warning that I was going to discuss forced breeding…
