For almost a decade, Donald Trump has sent the Republican Party and much of the mainstream media into a political whirlwind. His second, consecutive ascendance to the top of the 2024 Republican presidential polls has proven again to be a real dilemma for the GOP establishment.

Owing to his brash, blunt, abrasive, and confrontational style, Trump has been giving his fellow Republican candidates, major party donors, and top officials more than high blood pressure and a few headaches. His bombastic behavior and searing personal attacks on critics have angered many establishment Republicans, endeared him to many hard-line, right-of-center voters, and sowed considerable fear, confusion, political paralysis, polarization, and paranoia in many conservatives’ hearts and minds.

Recalling his ride down the golden escalator to the basement of his eponymous New York tower in 2015, it was obvious from the outset that then candidate Trump had no intention of making nice with most of his political rivals or media critics. If anything, he immediately doubled down, threw in everything but the kitchen sink, and hurled obliterating verbal hand grenades into the Republican tent, leaving his rivals and critics in many cases dumbfounded and frustrated…
