Rudy Giuliani, America’s Defendant
The towering arrogance of rich white men is on full display
In the matter of Rudolph William Louis Giuliani versus two extraordinary black women, we are witnessing a classic mix of schadenfreude, karmic justice, and “What goes around comes around.” We could also throw in a hefty dose of “Payback is a dog!”
The former US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, the once powerful mayor of America’s largest city (“America’s Mayor” ), and the once numero uno attorney/consigliere to Donald Trump, Rudolph recently came thisclose to swearing at a federal judge in open court. It was during a hearing on why Rudy continues to drag his feet in relinquishing his assets to these amazing women.
Rudy was ranting and raving from his seat at the defendant’s table, since he was the defendant, after all, while his attorney attempted to plead his case before the judge. The judge, one Lewis Liman, a Trump appointee no less, interrupted Giuliani in mid-diatribe and reminded him and his lawyer that if Giuliani wished to do any swearing, he could only do so by taking to the witness stand and, after being sworn in under oath, he would be welcome, even encouraged, to rant, rave, and swear to his heart’s content.
