The Ten Commandments Did Not Stop Genocide, Slavery…Lynchings

I am at a loss why these lawmakers in Louisiana think that posting the Ten Commandments in every classroom will do anything to change people’s behavior in their state or any state. It is a truly preposterous suggestion.

But maybe I am not at a loss. We know why they are doing this and we know it is meaningless. Christianity has never stopped any evil or bad conduct in the United States, before and after its founding. For the representatives in Louisiana to suggest otherwise is a denial of history.

Governor Jeff Landry of Louisiana, who signed the law, said the following upon signing it: “I didn’t know that living the Ten Commandments is a bad way to live life…I didn’t know that it was so vile to obey the Ten Commandments. I think that speaks volumes about how eroded this country has become.”

I guess Landry doesn’t understand that it isn’t how vile the country has become, it is how vile the country has been since the beginning.

Thou Shall Kill & Steal

When the first colonies of the country that would become America were founded, the Ten Commandments existed and many of these settler…
