Thousands Hear AOC, Bernie Rail Against Oligarchy
Anti-Trump protests growing stronger
The protest movement against the administration of President Donald Trump is only growing stronger. Last week, there were massive protests across the nation, which drew about 5 million people. On Saturday, there was a huge event in Gloria Molina Grand Park in Los Angeles. The event was headlined by two leading lights on the left, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y), also known as AOC. It was billed as the “Fighting Oligarchy” tour. The event attracted more than 30,000 people.
Gloria Cuevas, an educator from Moreno Valley, was one of those people who attended the event. She rode the train down to Los Angeles that was nicknamed “The Bernie Express.”
Gloria Cuevas said she was motivated to attend the L.A. event because she can’t stand by and watch as the country goes down the tubes and flirts with ending democracy.
“I felt that instead of just being angry, I felt that I have to get involved,” she said.
Some of the issues that concern her are the attacks on undocumented immigrants, the decline in the economy and potential stock market manipulation.
“A lot of us have 401ks and I’m close in age to retiring,” she said.
