The Trump administration is, if nothing else, predictable. You can always count on them to create a bigger disaster than the last disaster. I had planned to write about President Donald Trump’s ridiculous attempt to indict former FBI Director James Comey, but then the administration produced a bigger explosion: the ludicrous speech by “Sec. of War” Pete Hegseth to 800 senior military officers in Quantico, Va. The president decided at the last minute to join them. As predicted, it was a disaster for the ages.

Trump Sounded Half-Dead

Trump sounded half-dead on stage. I’ve seen zombies show more energy. He rambled for 30 minutes in a speech loaded with insults, half-truths and grievances. He also vaguely threatened the senior officers, saying that if they walked out, their careers would be over. It sounded like a joke, but the threat was real.

Before the Orange Oaf lumbered on stage, Hegseth, a former second-string anchor on the worst show on Fox News Channel, jumped around in a bizarre speech that was a mash-up of right-wing propaganda and slogans. I tried to follow it, but I bailed when he said, “There will be no more climate change worship.” What the f — ? He also…
