Veteran Chicago Cop Sues Police Department to Change His Race from White to Black

Think of it as reverse-reverse racism.

Now comes word that a Chicago police officer is demanding that the department allow him to change his racial designation as listed on his official employment records. He is suing the Chicago Police Department and the city, claiming that because his “fellow” officers are allowed to freely change their gender status to match their identity, so should any cop also be allowed to change his racial identity.

His name is Muhammad Yusuf. He is 43 years old and he filed a federal civil rights lawsuit last week demanding that the courts and the cops and the city change his official racial moniker from “Caucasian,” as he is “currently identified, to African American.” Chicago’s Police Department brass, however, have not taken him very seriously, and at this writing, have declined to alter his officially recorded racial designation.

Yusuf’s lawsuit reads, in pertinent part, that the Chicago Police Department allows an officer’s “gender identity [to be] corrected to match their lived experience.” He claims, among other things, that his “lived experience” has been replete with racial…
