According to Crisis, a UK charity for homeless people, 282,000 single people, couples and families were judged homeless or threatened with homelessness by local authorities in 2020/21

Many people regard homelessness as those people sleeping rough on the streets. For people to be legally defined as homeless they must lack a secure place to live or able to stay.
