Donald Trump will be the next President of the United States on January 20, 2025. The French government is in shambles. The German government is likely to fall soon. The UK government barely won and is hanging by a thread. The Canadian government will likely lose.
And now, just the other day, the South Korean President attempted to declare martial law. Although thankfully its Parliament held strong and Yoon Suk Yeol, South Korea’s President, reversed course after Parliament voted 190–0 against the measure (now he might be impeached).
Western liberalism is arguably at its weakest point since 1945. Even during the Cold War years, filled with domino theories and red scares, Western democracies held strong. Humans flourished. Average lifespans and quality of life soared.
Simply look at China’s growth and the millions who escaped poverty after it adopted some Western liberalism in its society (albeit nowhere near entirely).
