Hey, Sports Fans: Trump is Not Worthy of Your Vote

I met this lovely woman (above) out drumming up support for Harris in Philadelphia on Sunday. Her pitch to Eagles fans is simple: Democracy — it’s a Philly thing. It got me thinking about what sports and football have in common, and that made me realize no one who values football — or really any other sport — could support Trump. At least, not if they stopped to think about it.

Imagine, if you will, a Super Bowl championship in which one of the teams simply plays by the rules. Meanwhile, the other team announces the game will only be fair if their team wins. That team also goes around saying before the match that the game is rigged against them. Their quarterback goes around slamming the refs, claiming they were planning to cheat, and riling up their side’s fans to protest and even storm the field if they lose.

What’s worse, the same team won the Super Bowl in the past, but when they lost the following year, that same quarterback refused to accept it. He claimed the other side cheated, and his teammates hired lawyers and claimed every point the other team scored was due to bad calls by the refs (but the calls that went their way were all somehow correct).

The team demanded every play be reviewed on tape again and again. But when the replays…
