U.S. alignment with Russia and the coming global reset
It’s been a good six weeks for Vladimir Putin.
Since the inauguration of President Donald Trump, both short and long- term Kremlin goals are coming to fruition. The momentum toward Moscow kicked off on January 20, and reached a crescendo on February 28th, with the now infamous Oval Office meltdown between President Trump, Vice-President Vance, and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy.
With this episode playing on a loop on screens around the world, combined with DOGE-driven chaos within the U.S. national security community, it’s easy to envision Putin propped up on one elbow smoking a cigarette at his good fortune.
The short-term implications of the last six weeks center on abandoning Ukraine and kneecapping America’s national security capability. Longer term, this event, and several other pro-Russia actions taken by the administration signal a major shift in U.S. posture in the world. Each one will be addressed in turn.
