One of the biggest public policy positions historically championed by Democrats has been promoting women’s rights, including women in the workplace.

No Democratic President has ever named a woman as chief of staff (CoS) dating back to Andrew Jackson, who became the 7th American President from 1829 to 1837.

On Thursday, Trump made history by doing something in than less 24-hours which Democrats have not done in over 100 years.

Trump announced the first personnel move of his forthcoming second Administration by naming his campaign manager, Susan “Susie” Wiles, as the new incoming White House CoS.

Trump said the following about Wiles once it became clear he would win the presidency:

  • “Let me also express my tremendous appreciation for Susie [Wiles] on the job you did,” he told campaign staff and supporters in the wee hours of Wednesday morning during a speech in West Palm Beach, Florida.
  • “Susie likes to stay in the background. She’s not in the background.”
