AUTHOR’S NOTE: This piece was posted here several hours before Matt Gaetz withdrew his nomination to be President-elect Trump’s attorney general.

Amid the daily frenzy of the Trump transition’s announcement of new nominations, there have been disqualifying revelations — if substantiated — about former Florida congressman and current Attorney General nominee, Matt Gaetz.

Is it any coincidence that Gaetz quit Congress just before the House Ethics Committee held a closed-door meeting yesterday to consider releasing the findings of an investigation into his alleged sex crimes?

The House Ethics Committee is still debating whether to publicly issue the Gaetz report, which might include salacious details about the former congressman reportedly having sex with minors, plus sex trafficking of young women and using illegal drugs.

Committee members, who are evenly split among Democrats and Republicans, are at an impasse as each side points fingers at the other.
