Freedom, the oldest and most popular buzzword of all time, strikes a chord with many people in modern democratic societies. Given how central freedom is to our way of life, we wonder if our understanding of freedom is truly as straightforward as it seems.
Individual Freedom in Democracies
In a genuinely classic democratic societies, individual freedom is like the holy trinity. Citizens cherish their rights by voicing their opinions, vote in elections, and live their lives with minimal interference.
Those of us who live in less democratic societies can only imagine our ability to express ourselves, whether through protests, social media, or simply choosing what we believe in as the cornerstone of democracy.
