President Donald Trump’s recent proposal to “buy and own” the Gaza Strip has sparked intense debate. He envisions transforming Gaza into the “Riviera of the Middle East,” suggesting the relocation of its 2.2 million Palestinian residents to neighboring countries like Egypt and Jordan. The United States would gain control of the territory while leading its reconstruction process.

A Visionary Plan or a Destabilizing Move?

Trump asserts that his proposed plan will create economic abundance and everlasting peace within the region. However, many see it as a potential catalyst for instability and utterly unrealistic. Let us assume that the presidents assumption becomes a reality. The mass forced relocation of millions will generate substantial political unrest. The economic difficulties along with political tensions in Egypt and Jordan could worsen because of enhanced refugee presence. The situation would stress their existing resources which may produce internal social conflicts.
