The Atari Group, one of the world’s most iconic consumer brands and interactive entertainment producers, has announced a significant partnership with Polygon. Atari will leverage Polygon’s layer 2 solution to increase the scalability of the Atari Token, NFTs (non-fungible tokens), and token-related products.

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Polygon, whose Layer 2 solution will allow us to provide our users with the best possible experience when interacting with the Atari Token and our blockchain related products,” said Frederic Chesnais, CEO of Atari.

As a result of the partnership, Atari will support the integration of Polygon’s Layer 2 solution, making Atari Token (ATRI) available on the scalable network that connects to Ethereum via the Polygon Bridge. The ultra-low fee environment and fast confirmation times make Polygon’s L2 suitable for minting NFTs, which Atari will also be exploring.

Using Polygon’s high throughput network, Atari will also launch an NFT minter that will enable Atari Token holders to issue NFTs that can be traded and later sold on popular NFT marketplaces.

We believe that the future of consumer-friendly blockchain products, including Gaming and NFT, lies on Layer 2,” said Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder and COO of Polygon (formerly Matic). “We’re delighted to partner with Atari to explore ways to add utility to its entertainment ecosystem and develop ways of capturing the full value of Atari Token and supplementary products, operating on Polygon’s scalable network.

With Polygon, developers are no longer forced to make trade-offs in terms of speed, scalability, tooling, or community when selecting a network on which to build. Anchored around Ethereum, Polygon’s L2 aggregator places instant scaling options in the hands of devs, freeing them to focus on creating applications that have real utility.
