Florecer

The seeds settle
into dusk. Wait until
they’re ready
to fly with the air, supply
more heirs of their own.
Before the pluck — lessons
of staying bright even
in darkness, of floating
effortlessly in rain, to bloom
atop a sameness of fields
when the world says to
keep low, are ingrained.
Electricity passes from
deep roots. A gentle
grasp holds a
tired spine.
Whispered words
of hope let
them go.
To grow. Life
that’s released
for a single
wish. This heavy
back naked
and pruned
wilts.
