Jodi running the bases, taken and submitted by her mother

When she is not playing centerfield
she reads
Activities that satisfy her needs
Physical and mental stimulation support
her goals
Love, success, and happiness feed
her soul

Then, unexpected, Life
canceled the games
closed libraries
schools and
doors to friends
Life as she knew it
came to an end

Small face coverings
Masked emotions
Concealed reality
Visually confirmed
that life changed
For everyone

COVID moved slowly
through the world
like a unicorn
Buzzing in the news
Unbelievable
denied by many

She donned a mask
accepting its value
It made the hallways
sterile and stuffy
when schools opened
