Let the Candle Burn

And allow love to shine

Light the wick and let it burn
Wax will melt and drip in turn
Give it breath and watch it dance
like our passionate romance

Our candle’s burning one hot flame
I’ve learned to tend it since you came
The flame exists with balanced care
with the perfect amount of fuel and air

If neglected, we might burn down the road
If overly tended, we’d surely grow cold
For too much air will extinguish the fire
we hold in our hearts with deep desire

The candle keeps burning when we give some space
and allow our love to grow with such grace
Attached to the wick, the flame stands tall
Moving and changing, we stay strong through it all

Our candle burns brighter when we dance with the fire
As we breathe in the now and exhale our desire
Warm and entranced, we play in the light
Going deeper into each moment as we hold each other tight

Grateful, sassy, sober GenX mom with plenty to say and enough energy to listen. Learning to laugh a little more as I age gracefully. Bring it on.
