Handmade fabric pattern by the Akha tribe in northern Thailand/Southern Mynamar (Pic by Author)

Patterns,
they live
through hearts, minds, and hands
of many generations.

Lines, ovals, diamonds, and dots…

Without words
they weave stories
of ancestors
who are alive
in these shapes and colors.

An old piece of fabric
carries the vibration
of the feelings
felt by many
who
with their hands
draw
patterns they feel.

I was inspired to write these words after working with ethnic and tribal populations for the last 8 years, in the handmade textiles business. I have been moved by the beauty of handicrafts — the unique stories they tell and the common dreams they share as one humanity.
