Raft of Twigs
An appropriate response
when your summer barely shines
through cold sheets of rain so big
and your trellised garden vines
drown next to flowering figs
when floodwaters only rise
detaining you on the roof
and your optimism dries
up as rescue teams go poof!
when all at hand are small sticks
floating by with buoyant sprigs
and your perch old chimney bricks
you could make a raft of twigs
raft of twigs
raft of twigs
you’re allowed a raft of twigs
BUT,
when you've got a gloomy may
but sit in a yacht so big
should there be a rainy day
dare not launch a raft of twigs
raft of twigs
raft of twigs
dare not launch a raft of twigs
