Contemplations of chiaroscuro

The
oyster
shell, swirled and
pearled inside,
after the bounty
is plundered; reflected
radiance and eddied fogs,
exhaled upon walls and ceilings
of a sand grain's aquatic chamber;
the dreaming of a pale pearl’s becoming

Intricate tracings of wandering snails,
mercuric hieroglyphics; read,
like strange nocturnal tales by the
winking eye of crescent moon;
gleaming delicacy
of filigree, laced,
across parchment
of pathways
after
rain

What
delights
bright, lie in
contemplations
of chiaroscuro;
light amidst darkness, just
as stars pierce depths of night sky,
without which, midnight’s firmament
would seem an eerie void, looming above,
threatening to stifle us while we dreamed
