To My People
Is America our home?
Transported by slave ships, to the Occident
It is written, this was no accident
Some Hebrews rebelled, freedom they crave
Some went overboard, choosing a watery grave
Coming to this nation, Colored cargo
All of a sudden, now labeled Negro
Should 2020 feel like 1620?
They have hair aplenty
On Black Twitter, you may see some chatter
Even a trending hashtag, Black Lives Matter
Trayvon Martin murdered
How can this be?
Was his crime buying Skittles
With a bottle of iced tea?
He was shot behind the wheel
Freddie Gray, a spinal injury
Sandra Bland’s death, a sobering reality
No deference for the old
Hebrew youth aren’t treated nice
Within two seconds
Took the life of Tamir Rice
How did we get in this condition we’re in?
Are we under a curse? Why can’t we win?
Are we too dark? Maybe it’s melanin?
It’s our habitual lifestyle of sin
We have a covenant relationship
With The Creator
President Obama was elected
But God’s Son is our Savior
Now Ahmaud Arbery
Run with Maud
My beautiful Hebrew people
Time to run to Yahweh, Our God
