The Theme

Tom Petty has been played more than a few times at past Rock Clubs, many times during the “we’ve played our playlists, but we’ve still got beer, so we let’s just play more music” segment. His legacy and impact on music don’t even need to be stated again as it has been done already in so many places.

However, you can always find time for a tribute and appreciation. That’s what this particular Rock Club was all about. All Tom Petty-related songs.

To finish things off, we each selected one Van Halen track to honor Eddie Van Halen who passed away just a few days before. That man could shred!

The Process

We used JQBX (pronounced Jukebox) again. It requires a Spotify Premium subscription, but it works flawlessly.

The Actual Rock Club

We started our Rock Club while waiting for everyone to log in with a few Petty cover songs (“While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, “Tax Man”, “Goldfinger”) and even one of the best Van Halen licks ever, “Beat It”.
