Gregory King, a professor of dance at Kent State, organized a powerful Black Lives Matter protest Saturday afternoon at Dan Smith Community Park in downtown Kent.

“Dancing in Solidarity” attracted a large crowd to the park for an afternoon of dancing, music, speeches and fundraising for the National Black Trans Advocacy Coalition. As of Sunday night, over $1,800 had been donated.

King posted an update on Facebook after the event: “Thank you all for the support!! To all who attended, to all who donated, and to all who wanted to attend….Thank you. We have done really well with the fundraising…..but there’s still time.”
