Trustees are working with county officials to address dirty discharge from homes in the Chinn Allotment off Brady Road. The county health department and the EPA conducted surface water testing in the allotment a few years ago. Homes in the allotment have septic systems, many of which are failing, Trustee Vince Coia said.

The county engineer’s office will begin running sewer service to the homes this summer or fall, Coia said. It’s all about discharge; the homes’ well systems are not impacted.

Affected properties could include homes on Wall Street, Roselawn, Marchin, Redbrush, as well as those on other streets on the northern side of Brady Lake Road. Affected property owners will be notified, Coia said.

Change of venue

Because of Covid, and the social distancing guidelines it has necessitated, trustees are planning to move to a new meeting hall.

“Our meeting room is grossly undersized, especially for social distancing,” Coia said.

The new building will house a multipurpose room for township meetings, employee training and community use.

Trustees are currently meeting in a fire bay in the fire station.

The new building will be on Spring Street, across from the building the township uses for its zoning department.

“Hopefully, it will be done by the end of summer,” Coia said.

Spring cleaning

Trustees also discussed the township’s spring clean up, which will be a drop off, not a curbside pick-up. The township will have dumpsters brought in to township property on Spring Street. No date has been set, but trustees are looking at a Saturday in April. Township employees will be on hand to help people unload and place items in the dumpsters. Concrete, paint, chemicals and tires will not be allowed.

  • In other business: trustees are sifting through resumes for part-time seasonal workers.
  • Also, due to the relatively mild winter, the township still has a full salt shed, giving them a head start on whatever may come next winter.
