Dancing is not only an art form, or a sport, but a therapy. Exercise overall is considered a therapy because it releases endorphins that can make you feel happier and more energetic. But dance is different, according to the article, “The Benefits Dancing has on Mental Health” by the International Supplies Blog, “dance and movement are known to have physical and psychological benefits for those with mental illness”. another notable quote from the article, “The Benefits Dancing has on Mental Health” is, “dance uses their body to express emotion and people suffering from mental illness often find it hard to express their feelings, as a result dance provides an opportunity for individuals to communicate their feelings.” Which in comparison to counseling for mental health, dance is considered a therapy as well. Dancing can help you release emotions without anybody having to react to your thoughts, because they don’t know what they are. The audience can easily connect to the way someone dances with a song and assume that the dancer is just acting the part. Even if that dancer has nothing on their mind, dancing can still relieve stress and make them feel like a better person. Dancing can also bring people closer together, even if it’s not professional dancing. People that have never had professional training in dance can simply just move their bodies along with music to connect with others and to feel good and confident about themselves. Even just an audience member can feel happier watching someone dance. Dance is contagious, just like a smile, it can inspire others and can put them in a happier mood. Overall, dancing can change the way people view themselves as a person and can alter anybody’s day into a happier one.
