My dog is a brat. That’s my fault, of course.

Francis the French bulldog was the most precious puppy in the world. He was small. He had floppy ears. He had teeth bigger than his mouth. Basically, he was a walking stuffed animal. My wife and I gave him everything but the food on our plates (and sometimes even that).

Now, the honeymoon is over. He is not a good boy.

Our casual walks have turned into drill sessions. I say “no” 87 times per minute. And still, he pulls. Still, he barks. Still, he sprints at cats.

If we’d caught any of these bad behaviors early, they would have been easy to fix. We didn’t. It was too painful. Now, we’re fighting off 5 years of bad habits.

Humans are the same way. It’s darn hard to shake off a bad habit once you have it. Take the easy road. Don’t start any in the first place.

Start Good Money Habits Early

Life feels expensive when you’re 20. It gets even more so with every passing decade. Imagine you’re putting kids through college while also paying to care for a dying parent. That’s life for most people.
