1. Don’t scrimp on the basics like adequate sleep and proper nutrition.

We all know somebody who stays up past 2AM and subsists on nothing but Funyuns and Pepsi. Yes, they somehow keep going and appear to be in excellent health. That doesn’t mean that you can do the same thing.

Give yourself your best chance of creative joy and success by building a healthy foundation. Good nutrition, proper sleep, regular exercise, positive mental hygiene--all of these habits will help you lead a healthier life to fuel your creativity.

You’re no good to your art if you’re starving your body of the nutrients it needs or pushing yourself past your healthy limits.

2. Consume a varied diet of arts and entertainment.

Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that creatives cannot survive through the act of creation alone. As driven as we are to produce good work, we must also consume the art of others.

Not only that, but we’ve got to consume a diverse menu. It’s natural to have your favorite genres, but you need to mix things up too. Exposing yourself to new artists and others forms of expression will help you…
