In 2017, I wound up in the hospital with kidney stones.

It was the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life, by far. Nothing else remotely comes close. The pain was so bad that I couldn’t even stand up or lay down. Even breathing hurt.

When I was finally able to get a hospital bed — and a morphine drip — I felt the sweet relief I was desperately seeking.

Before they knocked me out, a question popped into my mind:

“How did I get here? How did this happen?”

“Oh yeah. Shopify.”

In an instant, pictures from the past days and weeks flashed before my eyes. My journey began with me making one simple decision: to start my own business and make money from home.

Did I succeed? Yes, but it nearly killed me.

Survival Jobs Suck

I’m a performer who has worked pretty consistently since I graduated from college. As an actor — primarily in the theater — I will book a job and then be out of work.

In between gigs, we don’t get paid. So, we need survival jobs.
