The most valuable and wasted resource

It has been years since I started thinking about how important our vital liquid is and how easy it is for us to forget that.

We act like the owners of the substance that we share with the rest of the living beings on Earth.

The first word my baby said was “agua” (the Spanish translation for water). Yes, water is more important than mom. Clever girl.

Every time that I am in a swimming pool, I can’t help to think that my grandchildren won’t be able to enjoy such pleasure. At the same time, it is crystal clear to me, that today’s swimming pools will be seen as a sacrilege to future generations.

The importance of water

Most creatures on Earth need water to survive, including us.

We can live without many things, but without water, death, illness, and desperation are around the corner.

I have read a lot about the issues a community may face if they don’t have water and I followed the Cape Town water crisis very close.

But now, I am living it.

I live in Caracas, Venezuela and last week we had an electrical blackout that lasted three days. The whole country lived its darkest time. I was lucky enough to have some periods of electric service in…
