I’m a pretty strong advocate for not going to college.

Controversial, maybe. Honest? Absolutely.

Let’s back up here for a moment; I’m not saying you shouldn’t go to college because, hey, if you’ve got thousands of dollars to spend on an educational system that is so sorely skewed, then by all means — go for it. And actually, there are a lot of careers where college is necessary. Obviously, you can’t be a doctor or lawyer without a college education.

However, a college degree is not necessary for every career. A lot of jobs now hire based on experience or word of mouth.

I’m a 23-year-old living in Los Angeles; I’ve worked at major tech companies like Yahoo as a data analyst, Aerospace as a financial advisor, and I’ve had the opportunity to work at Amazon (unfortunately, I didn’t want to sell my soul, so I passed that up). I even landed several interviews at Warner Bros, but that didn’t pan out and not even because of my lack of college degree, but because of commute issues.

I hold no college degree. I dropped out, and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I’m not the only one who thinks so…
