Why you hate your 9 to 5 job
It’s not natural
9 to 5.
Just the mere mention of these three words is enough to send shivers down the spines of most of us.
Have you ever stopped to think why we dislike these working hours?
After all, isn’t the way it’s supposed to be? Go to school, get a job, work till 60 and then retire. The reason we dread this phrase with such passion is simple.
It’s not in our DNA.
Humans did not evolve from single cell mechanisms to sit in an office and stare at a screen.
Our bodies are designed for movement. For the most part of human history, that’s we did.
We hunted our food, we followed our food. We were constantly moving, nomadic is the term.
No caveman was waking up at 7:30 and thinking about the drudgery of his daily climate. He was preoccupied with finding his next meal.
We, as a species are supposed to be chained to our desks. It’s in our DNA to be explorers.
I’m not saying down tools and storm out of the office vowing never to return!
I’m saying the need to explore is an intrinsic part of who we are.
We should embrace it. If you want to travel more, you can. You have to take the steps needed in your life in order to this.
9 to 5 is not a certainty, or a necessity. It’s a choice.
