Your Dreams Will Need 5x More Time Than You Think — And That’s Good
I’ve gotten spoiled.
Back in 2016 when I started writing online, it took me a year to build a following of 10,000 people.
365 days. 12 full months.
Somewhere along the way, I lost the patience I once had.
Now I get upset after I see little progress after a few months of trying something new.
Take Substack, for example. A year ago I started my newsletter and ONLY had 600 subscribers after three months. The freaking horror, man.
How dare I only have 600 subscribers after months of work! I’m TOM KUEGLER! The guy who’s built a following of 10,000+ on 6 different platforms!
I stopped posting there for a year and recently came back to publish there again.
Instead of quitting after a few months, I pushed through and am now seeing some interesting and — dare I say it — exponential results.
I’m getting way more re-stacks, comments, likes, and new subscribers recently. It’s almost like I needed to warm up the oven before I could start cooking again, ya feel?
This brings up one stone-cold point:
You must dedicate at least a year to something before you see big results.
