A burden to bear.
She watches in the distance,
wading through their illusions,
reading between the lines,
She sees it all.
She couldn’t stop now, even if she tried.
She sees their cogs churning, brewing another fable.
The whip cracks, their contempt deepens,
it’s all interpretation, but she must bear the blame,
since this has always been the way.
She took a breath, wondering why she was always there,
enduring all of their suffering.
