Dear Republicans,
we live among you
but not of you not you at all
we the elusive crowd
whose motivation, our urge you long for
while you never ask
not now, we are the women
whose wombs you would fill with children
we are the disabled, poor,
voiceless rabble whose fists raised
dream of better lives
lives with work and extra pay, with time,
luxurious time
for the gentle womanly pursuits of raising children
cooking meals, easy laughter as we are known
and we know, will know each other deeply
free of judgement or jealous fear we
will face down change with vulnerability and courage
knowing all forms of love, we will be loved, all forms,
all I say all, hear me all
forever our dream, the dreams of our ancestors
this will be the clean place free of disease, free of rot and fire
danger and destruction from bombs and guns
disaster looming on all fronts, all fronts, we are surrounded
who buys those who took our vote
our one voice silenced? We will fight you,
We will fight! We rise in demand
to be seen, be heard, live lives we dare to dream
rise in the light as the free, the speakers
those who speak, who are heard, who are lovers
creators, innovators, rich with ideas
beyond all narrow restriction
reaching for years to come, pure with joy
pure with joy, pure, with joy. Unalloyed joy.
